Black fungus - A deadly disease

As it is a new disease that is rapidly increasing in India many of us don't know about this much. Here I am going to describe Black fungus and its symptoms. Let's go deep into this blog.

What is Black fungus?

It will attack blood vessels and live tissues, as it kills them, it turns them all black. So that it called a Black fungus. In just three days, it will spread to the eyes and jawbone. In these cases, the only way to stop the spread to the brain is to remove the infected eye or jaw bone surgically. If it spreads to the brain it will become half chance to live.

This disease is infected by inhaling fungal spores found naturally in the environment and soil. These spores get entered in the nasal passages and channels through it and cause black fungus. People with a good immune system can survive this. Maximum cases are seen in those people who are recovered from covid.

Those who got this disease are prescribed antifungal treatment like liposomal amphotericin B injections for at least 10 days after diagnosis. But these drugs will have side effects and can cause kidney damage.

Symptoms of Black fungus:

• Facial swelling
• Nasal congestion (congestion means blockage)
• severe toothache
• Fever
• cough
• chest pain
• shortness of breath
